ForensicGrants is a grant discovery platform built for forensic science agencies. We help forensic labs, medical examiner offices, and law enforcement agencies find and assess federal funding opportunities. ForensicGrants is operated by an individual developer based in Washington state.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@forensicgrants.com.
Account data
When you create an account, we collect your email address and the date your account was created. We do not collect your name, phone number, or payment information at this time.
Agency profile and projects
If you choose to provide them, we store details about your agency (name, state, role, disciplines, accreditation status, and typical budget) and any projects you save (a short description, estimated cost, target fiscal year, discipline, and notes). We use your agency profile and projects to tailor Grant Match and Ask ForensicGrants to your agency. You can edit or delete them at any time from your account settings.
Usage data
We track how you use the platform including which grant programs you view, how many Ask ForensicGrants assistant conversations you have used, and basic usage counts. This helps us improve the product.
Ask ForensicGrants assistant conversations
When you use the Ask ForensicGrants assistant, your messages are processed by Anthropic's API to generate responses. We store your conversations, including your questions, the assistant's answers, and any rating or comment you leave on an answer, so we can check answer quality and, if you are signed in, so you can return to your saved chats. Signed-in conversations are linked to your account and are removed when you delete a chat or your account. Conversations without an account are linked only to the browser identifier described below; you can ask us to delete them using the contact details in section 06.
Browser identifier
When you use Ask ForensicGrants or Grant Match, we store a randomly generated identifier in your browser's local storage (key: fg_browser_id). It is used to apply the AI usage limits and to group the conversations and Grant Match runs made from that browser. On its own it does not identify you, and it is not a cookie.
AI usage records
Each answer from Ask ForensicGrants and each Grant Match run costs us money to produce, so we record when it happened, which feature and AI model it used, how much text it processed, and what it cost. The record is linked to your account (or, if you are not signed in, the browser identifier above) and is used to apply the free allowance and plan limits. It does not contain the text of your questions. When you delete your account, these records are unlinked from you; we keep the unlinked cost figures for our own accounting.
Site search
When you use the site search, we record what you typed, how many results it showed, and which result you opened, if any. This is stored without your account, browser identifier, or IP address, so it cannot be tied back to you. We use it to see what people look for and do not find.
Analytics data
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It records the page viewed, the referring site, and general details such as country, browser, operating system, and device type. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and reports only aggregated numbers, not individual visitors.
